As the third natural lake in Changshu, Nanhu Lake has experienced the vicissitudes of Songze and Liangzhu cultures to be classically expressed here. The layout of the wetland water system in the lake is rigorous and the pattern is grand. Historically, due to years of disrepair, lack of management and man-made damage, Nanhu Lake was full of deserted islands and reed lakes with grass. It was once the hardest hit area of schistosomiasis and the concentration of soil and bricks. There were many polluting enterprises, livestock and poultry breeding was disorderly, and the ecological environment was seriously damaged. Since 2009, Changshu municipal Party committee and municipal government have vigorously implemented the ecological restoration project of Nanhu wetland. According to the concept of "original ecological wetland and original countryside", a series of projects have been implemented, such as ecological corridor around the lake, adjustment of lakeshore shape, returning fishing to the lake, desilting at the bottom of the lake, greening and beautification, wetland restoration, lake embankment landscape construction, rural tourism and leisure, etc ". Now South Lake has been included in the list of lakes in Jiangsu Province, becoming an ecological cornerstone of the city of mountains and rivers.

1. Begonia Spring Drunk World-Begonia Garden

In the middle of spring, the weather is getting warmer, and the Nanhu Wetland Park is full of vitality. The terrain here is slightly higher and sunny. Hundreds of crabapple trees are scattered on the lawn. The weeds have fine flowers, colorful and crisscross paths. This spring scene is really "the flowers are gradually charming, and the shallow grass can have no horseshoes". There are benches on the side of the road, you can rest or sit quietly and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There are varieties such as weeping silk begonia, pasted stem begonia and papaya begonia in the begonia garden.

2. Red Plum Blossoms in Spring -- Red Plum Garden

After the Begonia Garden, far away, a large area of bright red leaping people's vision, full of red plums in the early spring of the cold mist frost blooming, forming a spectacular scene of plum sea clouds, clouds steaming Xia Wei. The Hongmei Garden in Nanhu Wetland is the largest plum garden in Changshu. The terrain is open, with clear water on one side. More than 3000 plum blossoms are unique, either sparse or dense, or facing the wind or shining the water. There are many varieties of plum blossom in the garden, mainly including red plum, red plum, vermilion plum, palace powder plum, green calyx plum, etc.
